Hilton Garden Inn Mystic/Groton Review

4.5 Stars (4.5 / 5)

Has the feel of a boutique hotel and the efficiency of a big brand. Decent staff which is quite friendly and respectful. Even though the hotel is constructed on a busy road it feels like your staying in the country. It is a quiet place and is well priced.

The salt water pool was clean, heated and had the perfect temperature even though it was small. The whirlpool room is spacious though.

The rooms are large, comfortable and nicely decorated. The bathroom was squeaky clean. Like most Hiltons this one had an excellent breakfast buffet.

My reason for choosing the Hilton for my stay was that it was so easy to get to local attractions and having never visited Mystic before, I was excited to see what the town had to offer.

Having been to the Aquarium, Old Mystic Village and the Seaport amongst other things, I was packing a lot into each of my days and the best thing for a busy holiday is somewhere nice to rest your head at the end of it.

Vanderbilt House Philmont, NY Review

3.5 Stars (3.5 / 5)

The Vanderbilt house has a significant history in New York. It is a 156-year-old home in Philmont that used to function as a hostel back in the 1800s to workers that built the railroad in Columbia County. It was recently revamped and redesigned into one of the most hospitable and notable restaurants in New York.

The inn has some remarkable features that make it a great place to stay. It contains few rooms but they have a great aesthetic look that is jaw-dropping and hugely appealing. However, we did have to speak to the manager about dirty sheets. The back deck is a lovely place to have a tasty meal and set your eyes on the beautiful lake view.

Hilton Pearl River, NY Review

4 Stars (4 / 5)

Set out in quiet vicinity and established in a great, convenient location, the Hilton Pearl River is a great hotel that gives the ambiance of a French chateau. The hotel boasts of well-lit and clean rooms, nice swimming pool, a sauna, a hot tub and a fitness center that all guests can use.

Even though some guests review it as a bit pricey, its wonderfully designed, elegant with great areas to host occasions such as weddings, birthday events etc. The staff is well trained and mannered even though a few still require more customer service training that the hotel takes quite seriously.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Norwalk, CT Review

4.5 Stars (4.5 / 5)

The service was highly personalized and courteous. The DoubleTree cookies and an amazing tea spread at the front desk are an absolute must. They add a very personal touch. Proximity to the beaches entirely nailed it for us. A holiday is never complete without at least a couple of hours sun tanning.

Clean and warm bathroom with plenty of supplies, great and well-functioning fixtures though the actual bathrooms were a bit tight and dark. There was a nice pool too. But the problem was that there were not enough towels, and there was an unusual timing of private pool events. Parking was a bit stressful and tight, I wouldn’t recommend taking large vans or SUVs

The rooms are quite comfortable and homely for the price but they had a bit of a dated feel to them. Getting free shuttles for major sightseeing spots didn’t hurt a bit, especially because we didn’t have to worry about or pay for parking.

Hampton Inn by Hilton Kingston, NY Review

4 Stars (4 / 5)

I enjoyed my stay at the Hampton Inn whose staff was not only very professional, but also very friendly. From keeping my room spotlessly clean to providing helpful suggestions about what to do. I loved the soft and comfortable beds with multiple pillows.

What particularly pleased me was the location of the hotel which was within easy reach of downtown Kingston. Rhinecliff Bridge too is less than a mile away. The breakfast was very wholesome and satisfying and the lobby was serving coffee at night.

The staff recommended I visit a local winery, and they also said I would enjoy a sightseeing cruise down the Hudson River. I found both these recommendations to be very useful. I also loved the Catskill train rides.
